Did you know that 1 in 12 children aged 3-17 are affected by speech and language disorders? Let's work together to support and help these children thrive!
If you are like me, you may never have heard of speech therapy until your child needed it. I found myself researching “What is speech therapy?”, “How does speech therapy help?” and “How to find a speech therapist near me?”
What is speech therapy? This career field is dedicated to diagnosing & treating difficulties with communication, speech, language, literacy, feeding/swallowing, and so much more!
Speech therapists are also known as speech-language pathologists (SLPs). A master's degree is required to be an SLP. SLPs work across the lifespan from birth to the end of life and can be found in multiple settings such as private practice, preschools, hospitals, in the community, etc.
After many hours of research, I gained a great understanding of how speech therapy helps. I enjoyed learning about it so much that I decided that this was the career for me!
Along the way, I found that many parents were in the same shoes as I was and were often starting from ground zero. So let us save you some time and share how speech therapy can be life-changing and to begin looking for speech therapy near you.
